Private Garden in North Tallinn

Date: 2024-ongoing
Location: North Tallinn, Estonia
Author: Hannes Aava

About:

An ongoing private garden design project for a garden proposing new plant borders, raised beds to border the terrace, a custom-designed playground element, an ornamental water feature, a garden house/shed and a gravel area with lush drought-tolerant plant borders and a fireplace. The layout and planting aim to connect the garden to the surrounding ecosystem and environment while offering the inhabitants additional privacy from the neighbours and the street, something that is currently lacking.

The planting is a mix of perennials and edible plants and as per the client’s request, creating an all-season display of grace and beauty, with local pollinators and birds kept in mind. The proposal also features raised beds for growing vegetables and raised brick beds framing the terrace - ideal for growing edible and sensory plants. The surviving plants of the current half-dead Thuja occidentalis hedge are re planted to feature in the new borders.
